Out of Vanderloop’s Brillion, Wis. location, Robb Vanderloop discussed the recent installation of a new AW Dyno, the AG4X. Here’s a recap.
AW Dynamometer Inc., which has been manufacturing and servicing dynamometers since 1957 from its Pontiac, Ill., location, is a veteran-owned company run by the Robinson Family (third generation). Constantly innovating, the company has been making news by delivering the latest technology in dynos to customers, as is the case with Vanderloop.
Speaking about recently-installed equipment, Robb says, “I was a little nervous about how it was going to work, but it’s really working out well. We can do continuous run Dyno up to 800 horsepower. We had an in-ground tank that was not being used anymore, so we were recirculating the coolant because it takes up to 50 gallons a minute to cool a Dyno. They've been running 400 horsepower for 2 hours and the water temp never raised more than a few degrees.”
Looking ahead, he adds, “We should be able to Dyno the biggest tractors we have now, which are the 670 horsepower Fendt tractors.”
AW's hydraulic activated load unit is water cooled, featuring a water flow switch, which allows it to test high torque loads for continuous periods of time. The company reports that AW's heavy duty load units are known to last for decades. Notably, in its AG.X Series — popular with ag dealerships servicing tractors 20-900 horsepower, the company has added an all new computerized electronic load control, software, thermocouples and sensors. The AG Dyna Max has recently received a US Patent. The new AG.4X features the high tech 2100sXT DynoPro Computer System with Electronic Touch Screen Control, Temperature Watchdog Relay, and Emergency Water Flow shut down protection. In addition, a newly designed load unit provides high speed capability to dyno test engines, combines, forage harvesters, and irrigation power units.
