According to the latest USDA Crop Progress report, some 4% of corn has been planted as of the week ended April 11, 2021. This surpassed the 2% planted in the previous week and the 3% planted in the same week last year. Texas reported 57% of its corn planted.
Some 8% of cotton was planted in the week ended April 11, above the 6% planted in the previous week but below the 9% planted in the same week last year. Arizona reported the most cotton planted as 34%.
Sorghum planting progress stayed at 14% planted (in line with the previous week) vs. 18% in the same week last year. Rice planting progress rose to 23% vs. 20% last year and 14% in the previous week. Some 17% of sugarbeets were reported planted, up from 4% last week and 9% last year.
