According the 2015 edition of the “Big Dealer Report” compiled by Ag Equipment Intelligence and Currie Management Consultants, the total number of dealer groups that own 5 or more stores increased to 188, up from 181 in the previous year.
This was the first increase in the number of big dealers in the past 3 years. While several CAT dealers exited the ag business, smaller dealers added stores resulting in the increase in the total number.
The report, which was issued to Ag Equipment Intelligence subscribers last week, indicates that 71% of Deere dealers are Big Dealer groups.
As for the other major equipment brands 48% of Case IH dealers, 22% of New Holland, 17% of AGCO and 13% of Kubota dealers can be classified as “Big Dealers.”
