The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) announces the publication of ANSI/ASABE S599, Standardized Deployment Performance of an Automatically Deployable ROPS for Turf and Landscape Equipment.
S599 specifies design and testing requirements for the installation of automatically deploying roll-over protective structures (AD-ROPS) and establishes performance requirements of an automatically deployable protective structure for ride-on turf and landscape equipment. The standard applies equipment as defined in ANSI/ASAE S323.2. It does not apply to recreational machines, off-highway utility vehicles, agricultural tractors, or all-terrain recreational vehicles.
The project was initiated by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and was supported by the Office of Technology Transfer and Commercialization at California State University, San Bernardino.
A copy of the document can be ordered by contacting ASABE headquarters directly at: martin@asabe.org. ASABE members and those with site-license privileges to the ASABE online Technical Library can view an electronic copy of the standard in about 6 weeks.
