According to a report from Quad-City Times, Deere announced it has enacted another round of buyouts for its salaried U.S. employees. It was noted in the announcement that Deere could enact further reductions, including layoffs, before the buyout program comes into effect.
"These decisions, while difficult, are designed to ensure we have the skills and competencies needed to best support customers and to successfully position Deere for the future," said Jen Hartmann, Deere’s director of public relations. Hartmann also pointed out that certain positions are exempt from the layoff program, including workers in the Moline-based manufacturer’s precision ag, data and analytics and IT departments.
Salaried U.S. staff will be able to take part in the buyout program from July 1-31.
This follows a separate buyout program Deere enacts back in December 2019, as well as layoffs from its Dubuque Works, Waterloo Works and Davenport Works facilities.
