Wylie & Son Inc. has announced the acquisition of Pioneer Equipment, a 3-store dealer located in southern Texas.
Here is the official announcement from Wylie's President and CEO Scot L. Wylie:
Effective five p.m. today, I am pleased to announce the purchase of assets of Pioneer Equipment in Mission, Raymondville, and Brownsville, Texas, by Wylie & Son, Inc., dba Wylie Implement and Spray Centers, Lubbock, Tx. We at Wylie are excited by this opportunity, and are anxious to serve as your dealer of choice for all your farm equipment needs. We are now the exclusive Case IH and New Holland Agriculture franchisees in the area, with the full array of contracts, including self-propelled sprayers. Wylie & Son now has 17 retail locations and over 300 employees throughout Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.
Ironically, my own agribusiness career began 39 years ago to the day, right here in the Valley. I had just completed my freshman year in college, and accompanied a team to Donna to test a prototype sunflower harvester my father designed for the Company. When school began again in the fall of 1975, I changed majors from pre-law to agribusiness management. I hope that all of you have had an opportunity to use Wylie Sprayers over the last 50 years; as you may know we have had a presence in the Valley over that period of time, and have had a Spray Center location in Edinburg since 1987. In fact, we are moving the Mission location to Edinburg, and combining the two stores into one location. Please see various maps and instructions on the back of this letter. There are many business based reasons for this move. Beth and her parts staff have moved to the Edinburg store, and you will see little short-term disruption. We are operating two mobile service units out of both Edinburg and Raymondville, with specialists for both self-propelled sprayers and precision ag. Additional support will be provided from our new Spray Center in Corpus Christi. Shop work will be performed in Raymondville, where we have an expansion plan in place for the near future.
The leaders locally for our Rio Grande Valley complex will be Gilbert Cardenas and David Valadez. In general, the teams at each location will remain intact. Our senior management team, comprised of myself, Mickey O’Neill (VP Sales), Jason Fisher (VP Operations), and various corporate parts and service managers, will be boots on the ground in one form or another every week for the next year, to familiarize ourselves with you and the area, and you with us. We are committed to this plan, so much so that we have purchased a residence in Bayview to use when we are here. Wylie has established its reputation in the ag equipment business by providing superior service, and that will be our aim with this new venture. We hope you will consider embarking on this journey with us.
In closing, I will say just this: At Wylie, we’ll try hard to earn your business, and even harder to keep it.
