Kuhn North America Launches Precision Fertilizer Spreading with Axent 100.1

Kuhn North America introduces the Axent 100.1, which it calls the industry’s first precision fertilizer spreader. The new spreader is able to spread both wide and precisely. “What really blows people away is that it’s able to spread Urea 120 feet. And the competition can only spread it 90 feet, at most,” says Ryan Pearcy. He says the additional efficiency gained are substantial. For example, a customer spreader go cover almost 350 more acres a day, or $2,000 more income per day at $6 per acre.

AGCO Proposes Square Baler Classification System

AGCO has introduced a standardized classification system for small and large square balers during the 2017 National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville. The square baler classification system places balers in Class 1 through Class 8. This new system defines the capabilities of balers in each class by rated plunger load and their most appropriate uses so producers will be better able to choose the right baler for their needs.

Veris Launches iScan Soil Sensing Tool

Seeing the need to for more flexibility to map soils, Eric Lund, president of Veris Technologies discusses the features of the new iScan system that mounts to the row unit of a tillage implement or planter. The front coulter and the rear closing disc contain 2 electrodes that inject electrical current and then 2 chromium carbide points detect the electrical array after it’s gone down in the soil about 2 feet. An optical sensor also shines red and infrared light 2 inches deep to measure soil optical properties which relate to organic matter.

Kuhn Krause Introduces New Cover Crop Seeder

Adding to its line of tillage tools, Kuhn Krause launched its CCX 9000 pneumatic cover crop seeder for use with the company’s Excelerator vertical tillage tools, available in 11- 14- 20- and 25 foot widths. Product Manager Peter Goodge offers an overview of the system, where seed is fed from a 21 cubic foot hopper into an electric drive metering unit that uses a speed signal sent from the tractor and controlled by a Quantron controller for consistent application rate, regardless of speed variation.
