Hoober Inc., a farm equipment dealer with locations in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia, has reached an agreement to acquire certain assets of H.B. Duvall Inc. located in Frederick, Md. Completion of the acquisition is scheduled for August 26, 2013.
Under terms of the agreement, Hoober Inc. will acquire the Case IH agriculture dealer contract from H.B. Duvall Inc.; a contract which covers the North and Central regions of Maryland along with several counties in West Virginia. Hoober will also acquire additional H.B. Duvall contracts and assets, including Great Plains, and Land Pride, among others. H.B. Duvall will retain several dealership contracts as well, including Cub Cadet, Yanmar, Trailers by DTE, Maxum, Pequea, Buyers Snow Equipment, and Redneck Trailer Parts.
“We already work with several ag producers and commercial providers in the region so acquiring the Case IH contract, along with the others, makes a lot of sense for us,” said Chuck Hoober of Hoober Inc. “The region has a strong agricultural industry and heritage that has many similarities with our current territory so for us it’s a very natural fit.”
“This is a move that will benefit all of our current ag customers,” said John Bare of H.B. Duvall. “We knew there were product lines that we wanted to retain and we’re excited about the opportunities that lie ahead of us in those areas. In terms of our agricultural customers, it was important for us to know that they would be taken care of. For that reason, Hoober was an obvious choice for us because they’re known for outstanding customer service in all areas.”
Initially, Hoober Inc. will lease space at H.B. Duvall’s current location, providing a local parts depot while Hoober searches for a new store location in the region. Until a new store location is established, Hoober’s Chambersburg, Pa. and Intercourse, Pa. locations will provide service, sales, and precision agriculture support for the region. H.B. Duvall Inc. will continue to operate out of its present location and will continue providing parts, sales, and service for lawn and garden, compact tractor, and trailer customers in the same tradition they have since 1944.
“Hoober will have mobile parts, service and product support for the region, the full range of precision ag capabilities, plus a strong lineup of new and used equipment,” said Scott Hoober, who oversees Operations for Hoober Inc. “We’re familiar with this region of Maryland and West Virginia and we have the resources to provide customers everything they need during our search for a permanent location in the area.”
