LEXIGNTON, Neb., May 31, 2013 — Orthman Manufacturing presented a check for $2,500 to the U.S. Marine Corps "Toys for Tots" program Friday. The check was presented by Orthman company president John McCoy to Marine Corporal Charles Huntsman, an Orthman employee.
The funds were raised at the Orthman Christmas party with a raffle contest for Orthman employees, and then the raffle pool was matched by the company. This is the 3rd year that Orthman has donated to the Toys For Tots program, and the Company was honored last year as a nominee for the 2012 "Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award."
McCoy said supporting guard and reserve employees is an easy decision. "We're just honored to be able to help," said McCoy. "The sacrifices and hard work that Charlie gives not only to Orthman, but to his country and the Toys For Tots program deserves all the help we can give him."
The presentation was made at a company-wide cookout, in front of founder Henry Orthman's original barn — which still stands on the Henry Orthman farmstead.
