RDO Equipment plans a grand opening noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at its new location at 1340 W. Beach St. in Watsonville, Calif.

"We doubled our space," said Craig Kleindl, general manager for Watsonville and Salinas.

The company hired SCS Construction of Watsonville to remodel the warehouse space before moving in.

Potato farmer Ron Douglas Offutt started RDO in 1968 in North Dakota and expanded to 62 stores, purchasing the assets of Pringle Tractor, a John Deere dealership, in 2010. RDO employs 10 people in Watsonville.

Kleindl said the number of employees in Watsonville has doubled in the last two years and the store will be looking to hire.
