Yesterday, USDA reported that 87% of the 2012 corn crop was in the ground. This puts planting progress far ahead of last year’s pace (56%) as well as that of the five year average (66%).
USDA also reported 56% of the corn crop is emerged, also well ahead of last year’s crop (16%) and the average pace over the last five years (28%).
The ag agency also said that 60% of the winter wheat crop is in "good" or "excellent" condition vs. 63% last week and 32% at the same time last year.
