Yesterday, USDA released its weekly crop progress report that showed that 71% of the U.S. corn crop is in the ground. This compares with 32% of corn planted at this time last year and an average of 47% planted over the past five years.
USDA also reported 32% of the corn crop has emerged, ahead of last year’s crop at 6% and the 13% average pace over the last five years.
The ag agency also reported that 63% of the winter wheat crop is in “good” or “excellent” condition vs. 64% last week and 33% at the same time last year.
