Farm equipment maker, John Deere, is publicizing its new method of making farm technology more productive and more efficient, according to a published report.

Don Preusser, John Deere Insurance Co. president, said the benefit that producers find with the new system will be sizable. The automated crop reporting process maximizes production for investments in precision farming technology.

"Our goal is to be the leader in developing new technology that will help simplify the lives of producers," Preusser said.

Risk Management and U.S. Agriculture Department officials last July saw the program in operation at a John Deere field day event. They used GPS equipment and viewed how mobile equipment takes inventory of acreage and production equipment.

An additional benefit of the new method is reducing time devoted to certifying acres, Preusser said. The new method will generate reports that more accurately indicate acreage and production.

"John Deere is integrating precision farming system technology with our crop insurance processing software to deliver more efficient governmental farm program reporting solutions to producers," he said.
