According to USDA’s latest crop reports, more than half (51%) of the U.S. corn crop had been harvested as of October 10 compared with 37% harvested a week earlier. Last year on this date, only 13% of U.S. corn had been harvested.

It is also 21% higher than the 5-year average of corn crop harvested between 2005-09.

The USDA also reported that 67% of soybeans were also harvested as of October 10, which is up from 37% a week earlier. This compares with only 22% harvested by October 10, 2009.

The 5-year (2005-09) average of soybeans harvested by this date is 48%.
