Murphy Tractor & Equipment Co. plans to purchase eight John Deere construction equipment locations in Ohio, including a Cincinnati site.
The Wichita, Kan.-based company says it will purchase the facilities from Tampa, Fla.-based Nortrax Equipment. The local Great Lakes Nortrax dealer is on Mosteller Road in Sharonville. The remainder are in Brunswick, Canton, Columbus, Lima, Painesville, Youngstown and Vandalia.
“The acquisition of the Ohio locations fits within our strategic growth plan,” said Tom Udland, president of Murphy Tractor, in a news release. “The anticipated national economic recovery and the resultant infrastructure rebuilding bode well for our industry. ... It is our intent to significantly increase the size of the business in Ohio, including increased employment.”
The deal gives Murphy 24 locations in Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska and Ohio.
