On July 7, AGCO signed a contractual agreement for the new production facility in Hohenmoelsen, Saxony – Anhalt in Germany. The location of this facility is near Leipzig.
The Fendt Ahead2 growth initiative, a major investment into the premium brand of Fendt in Europe, includes plans for the relocation of the production of heavy plate components to a new site. The new facility will also increase the capacity for the company to bring in-house the production and assembly of components previously bought in from external suppliers. Following intensive investigations of various locations in Europe, the decision was made to locate to Hohenmoelsen, in Germany.
AGCO Hohenmolsen GmbH has been created as a subsidiary of AGCO International Gmbh, headquartered in Neuhausen, Switzerland. Michael Gschwender has been appointed managing director and Gunter Dohmen has been appointed as operations manager.
Multi-Stage Plan
In the first stage, the assembly of components for Fendt tractors and new developments in harvesting machines are planned for Hohenmolsen. In later stages, the facility will be used for the production of components for other brands in AGCO.
In the starting phase, around 50 employees will work at AGGO in Hohenmolsen. If the project proceeds according to plan, the facility will create 150 jobs in the medium to long term.
