SEGUIN, TX - On the morning of Tuesday June 25, 3  Alamo Group workers were injured after a 10 gallon propane tank exploded at a manufacturing facility, reports The Seguin Gazette.

President of Alamo Group Keith Forcinito said 3 employees were injured at the time of the explosion. “We do not presently know the full extent of the injuries to our team members,” he said.

Forcinito then said that the explosion occurred as one of the company’s forklifts was undergoing maintenance. He explained, “A fire occurred during the process of servicing a propane powered forklift that resulted in injuries to three of our employees who were working in the area at the time.”

According to the paper, Fire Marshal Dreiss said that initial investigation shows the fire was a result of a component failure. Dreiss said, “Once the component failed, an unknown ignition source ignited the propane. It essentially was a small explosion and a small fire, but it didn’t do any physical damage to the building or equipment. The fire didn’t continue once the tank was evacuated.” 

State and federal authorities were notified of the incident, with Forcinito saying that Alamo is actively cooperating with OSHA and the Texas Railroad Commissions.
