About 150 workers at John Deere's Ankeny, Iowa, plant are getting laid off indefinitely in April and May, reports the Des Moines Register.

"Each John Deere factory balances the size of its production workforce with the needs of the individual factory to optimize the workforce at each facility," Deere said in a statement to the paper.

No additional comment from Deere was provided.

The Ankeny plant has about 1,700 employees, of which 1,136 are production and maintenance staff, according to the report. The plant manufacturers sprayers and cotton pickers.
