The holidays came early for Vermeer Corp. tooling technician Andy Lettington after he was diagnosed with cancer when his team members pitched in to help make improvements to his Eddyville, Iowa, home.
Team members from all three shifts at the manufacturing plant spent two weeks roofing, siding, moving dirt and building a deck with a ramp — all done by the end of October.
In addition to working on volunteer time off, many team members came out on their free time to help.
"There was an amazing amount of work done on my house in a short amount of time. My wife and I can’t thank Vermeer and their team members enough for all the work that was completed," Lettington said in a company media release. "We are truly blessed to work for a company that cares for their employees."
Vermeer, Pella, Iowa, designs, manufactures and supports industrial and agricultural equipment. Its 3,500 team members meet customers’ needs with full service and support in over 60 countries.
