USDA's crop progress report for the week ended August 15 reported 22% of corn dented, above the 21% reported dented in the same week last year. The 5-year average for corn dented in this week was 22%.
USDA has reported some 73% of corn crops were in the dough stage, below the 74% reported doughing in the same week last year. The 5-year average for corn doughing in the week was 68%.
Around 47% of corn crops were reported in "good" condition, with another 15% in "excellent" condition and 25% in "fair condition."
The report stated 94% of soybeans were blooming in the same week, below the 95% reported blooming in the same week last year. The 5-year average for soybean blooming in this week was 94%.
Some 81% of soybeans were reportedly setting pods, below the 83% reported setting pods in the same week last year. The 5-year average for soybeans setting pods in this week was 79%.
Some 45% of soybean crops were reported in "good" condition, with another 12% in "excellent" condition and 28% in "fair condition."
