In this episode, I sat down with Duane Scholten, owner of Scholten’s Equipment, and his son Mike who is the marketing manager and works in sales.
In 1980, Duane decided to leave his father in law’s dairy farm and started selling used equipment that he would buy from the Midwest and then sell back home in Washington.
After taking on a few shortlines, the opportunity to buy a Kubota dealership presented itself in 1988. Today the dealership has two locations and has made its mark in the forage harvester business.
Duane also shares how their second location came about and the challenges that came along with growing that store.
