Seven categories of farm machinery with the highest retained value have been announced by EquipmentWatch, a provider of costs, prices and other data for used ag and construction and other heavy equipment products.
Among the ag products achieving the highest retained value for 2020 is the Apache AS Series Sprayer, which has received the top award for 4 of the last 5 years. It’s also the only specialty manufacturer (not multiple, main line) among all self-propelled categories. According to Equipment Technologies, the manufacturer of Apache sprayers, EquipmentWatch calculated the Apache AS Series has retained the highest percentage of its original value after a 5 year period based on the company’s market activity database.
EquipmentWatch says the top products in each of its categories (50 in all including ag, construction and lift/access equipment) are based on “millions of value and cost data points.”
“The Highest Retained Value Award is indicative of excellence across a manufacturing organization,” says Garrett Schemmel, vice president of EquipmentWatch. “Product quality has the most obvious impact on an asset’s performance on the secondary market, but residual values are also highly impacted by brand affinity and fair original pricing. A manufacturer must excel on all three fronts to gain recognition as a highest retained value award winner.”
Ag products that achieved top ratings based on highest retained value included:
- Apache AS self-propelled sprayers
- New Holland BC 5000 balers
- John Deere S combines
- John Deere 2R tractors (1-174 horsepower)
- John Deere 8RT track tractor
- Case IH Steiger tractors (more than 174 horsepower)
- MacDon C Series corn headers
