Lessiter Media Inc., Brookfield, Wis. (the publisher of multimedia brands such Farm Equipment, No-Till Farmer, Precision Farming Dealer, Rural Lifestyle Dealer, Strip-Till Farmer) has rebranded its annual new product guide for 60,000 high-income farmers.
Formerly referred to by the farm community as the Annual Farm Catalog, the publication, effective with the January 2019 edition, is now known as Farm Innovations for Today’s Top Farm Operator.
“The publication was launched 30 year ago this month by the editors of Farm Equipment, as a standalone product guide for farmers, on the newest in shortline farm equipment,” says Mike Lessiter, president, Lessiter Media. “While the unique pictorial product format continues to stand the test of time, the name no longer reflects the many changes to the content, so the rebranding was made to mark the 30th anniversary edition.”
The magazine was acquired by Lessiter Media from Cygnus Business Media in 2004. Among the many changes brought to the title were the addition of actionable in-depth feature content for high-income and high-acreage farmers, the expansion to include the newest product coverage for specialty seed, fertilizers and chemicals, and the exclusive coverage of the annual AE50 Awards from ASABE.
The origin of the title came about when manufacturers asked for the same opportunity to promote their niche products to farmers that they’d been accustomed to receiving through Farm Equipment’s dealer-facing magazine. The challenge for independent manufacturers to gain the attention of farmers via the large mass-media is one that continues today, as evidenced by the 75 companies advertising in the 30th edition.
Lessiter notes that the history of Farm Innovations has always been about showcasing the product advancements of the niche specialized firms, where experts agree most innovation takes place.
