RDO Equipment Co., Fargo, N.D., announces RDO Equipment Africa, a partnership with African entrepreneur, Andrew Mower, in Zambia, Africa. With a store in Kabwe, the capital of the Zambian Central Province, RDO Equipment Africa offers pre-owned John Deere agricultural and construction equipment, as well as products from Crary, Equalizer, Wilrich, and Wishek, and also provides complete after-sales support.
Regarded as “farming paradise,” Zambia’s soil conditions and climate are ideal for growing crops. That, paired with the nation’s food shortage and available amount of land, is encouraging more people to farm. However, most growers don’t have access to affordable, pre-owned machines, and after-sales support, making it a challenge to operate efficiently and cost-effectively. Identifying this need for a competitive used equipment market and aftermarket support was a driving factor in establishing RDO Equipment Africa, and offers significant opportunity, according to Mark Kreps, RDO Equipment Co. Vice President of Agriculture Sales.
“Sub-Sahara Africa is one of the fastest growing agricultural markets in the world,” he said. “Access to farm equipment has become a vital necessity in rural African communities and we’re eager to provide, not only the variety of pre-owned machines they need, but the parts, service, and support of a trusted dealer partner.”
In addition to opportunities for growth, RDO Equipment Co. is confident in RDO Equipment Africa’s ability to provide customers with the solutions they need, thanks to the partnership with Andrew. For more than 20 years, he has provided equipment, parts, and service to the Zambia area, and has built a reputation of expertise and trust.
“Andrew brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and relationships to RDO Equipment Africa,” Olga Hall, RDO Equipment Co. Director of International Sales, said. She continued, speaking to the mutually-beneficial aspect of the partnership, “He knows how to be successful in this market, and we have the equipment expertise to do so.”
RDO Equipment was the Farm Equipment magazine’s 2010 Dealership of the Year.
