The TSC8300 is warrantied to 300 foot-pounds (407 N.m) of torque. This first product will allow customers with smaller torque requirements that need the torque with increased flexibility to get both in one product.
“The coupling can be used in the auto, mining, agriculture and industrial industries just to name a few, really anyone who uses any form of coupling technology can benefit from this new technology,” says Darren Finch CEO of Twin Spring Coupling.
The patented technology can replace existing coupling technology like cardan, CV and universal joints. Increased flexibility with the same torque curves allows for increased reliability with little to no modification, says Finch.
“The constant maintenance of the internals of a universal joint isn’t a factor with our coupling as there are no internal components. No needle bearings to maintain, no bearings to wear out.”
Applications include axle, PTO, driveshaft, steering, conveyor belts or anywhere a uni and bearings are used.
Finch adds, “The simple design allows the coupling to be scaled up or down to suit the application and torque requirements, applications like drive shafts, steering, axles, belts, pumps etc.
“The flexibility of the springs allows for more degree of movement without damaging driveshaft or components, at the same time being able to absorb shock and energy, making the coupling more efficient.
“We are working on a larger versions to handle over 500 foot-pounds (674 N.m) and 700 foot-pounds (950 N.m) of torque but will develop our product line, working with customer and supplier needs,” says Finch.
