WAKEFIELD, Mass. — The Alliance Tire Group (ATG) has opened a new warehouse in Savannah, Ga. The company built the state-of-the-art, 202,000-square-foot facility to permit high efficiency operations such as cross-docking and enhanced put-away systems, says John Mancinelli, vice president of operations for Alliance Tire Americas.
“Our new location is ideally situated near the Port of Savannah and is also close to major OE and replacement tire customers,” Mancinelli says. “Just as our tires are purpose-built to excel on the job, our new warehouse was specifically outfitted and situated to reflect lessons learned from years of serving customers in the tire business around the world. With our new location, streamlined systems and configurable layout, we will be able to get tires to our customers more quickly and efficiently than ever.”
Mancinelli notes that the warehouse’s 9-person staff draws on decades of experience in top logistical operations, including FedEx and the U.S. military.
The ATG Savannah warehouse, which will serve to replace ATA’s Memphis warehouse — slated for closure in 2017 — is stocking many of the more than 2,000 SKUs that make the company’s Alliance, Galaxy and Primex tires the largest OTR tire line in the world. The new facility is also a shipping point for ATG’s new Constellation brand of truck tires.
