A Higginsville business that was destroyed in a March 14 fire will be rebuilt bigger and better than ever.
Since the fire, the Ag-Power John Deere dealership had been working out of a couple of temporary buildings, a much smaller setup than the business had before.
The dealership was a big part of the Higginsville community and economy, as many farm families relied on its services and the jobs that the company provided.
Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the new building, which will be three times the size of the old one and bring in nearly 30 new jobs.
"It's that kind of deep roots they've put in Missouri that helps us keep this agricultural economy moving forward," Nixon said.
Missouri offered the dealership a number of incentives if the company hits certain job creation marks and investment thresholds.
Owners of Ag-Power said they hope to have everything back up and running within a year.
