A fire destroyed JLD-Laguë Co.’s Sherbrooke, Que., store overnight on Jan. 31. The John Deere dealership group, which has 16 stores in Quebec and Ontario, shared the news on its Facebook page and said operations and services would be redirected to the store in Coaticook, Que.
According to reports by CBC-Radio Canada, the fire completed destroyed the dealership and cased $3 million in damage. Firefighters were on the scene by 1:30 a.m., and by 5 a.m. the fire was under control but firefighters were still trying to control various hot spots in the building. Daniel Gringas, the fire department’s deputy director of operations, told CBC the building was a total loss. In all, 25 firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.
