John Deere dealer Wade Inc. is expanding its footprint in the Memphis, Miss., metropolitan market by acquiring Tractors & Equipment in Hernando, Miss., the DeSoto Times-Tribune reports. With this acquisition, Wade's total locations grows to 12 in the greater Mid-South area.
Wade purchased Tractors & Equipment, which had been a John Deere dealer since 1975, from Guy and Burke Hendrix. Jim Wilson, general manager of Wade Inc. in Batesville, will now oversee the Hernando store as well.
According to the artcle:
The Hernando location is new territory to the company, which has its roots in the Mississippi Delta, according to Wilson.
"The dirt-moving business is a new business to us," Wilson said. "We haven't really been in any (big) metropolitan areas. We're used to the row-crop market. We diversified several years ago when we took on Pontotoc, Vardaman, Columbus and Grenada."
Lawn care equipment, earth moving equipment and chainsaws are other product lines that the company's expansion will provide.
Wilson said the company's roots date back to 1909.
"We started out in 1909 as Wade Department Store and sold the John Deere plow," Wilson said. "Since then, we've gotten bigger and bigger."
