John Deere dealer Valley Plains Equipment has begun phase one of moving a building to the east side of its property to make way for a new facility, according to a report by The Jamestown Sun.

The new facility will be 68,000 square feet and will provide a better layout and allow for more retail-type products, Hugh Hillstrom, store manager, told the newspaper.

The original building is being moved 200 feet to the east. The building previously was used for storage and will become a cold facility storage unit that will house tires, concaves, customer equipment and other goods, said to Trevor Williamson, lot manager of Valley Plains Equipment, according to the report.

The project is expected to take 8 months and construction should begin within the next month.

The store, previously Jamestown Implement, was in Farm Equipment’s first Dealership of the Year class in 2005. Today, the dealership is owned by Brandt Holdings and has since been combined with 5 other dealer locations under the name Valley Plains Equipment.
