USDA Reports 41% of Corn Dented
USDA's crop progress report for the week ended August 22 reported 41% of corn dented, in line with the 41% reported dented in the same week last year. The 5-year average for corn dented in this week was 38%.
USDA has reported some 85% of corn crops were in the dough stage, below the 86% reported doughing in the same week last year. The 5-year average for corn doughing in the week was 81%.
Some 4% of corn crops were reported mature, below the 5% reported mature in the same week last year.
Around 46% of corn crops were reported in "good" condition, with another 14% in "excellent" condition and 26% in "fair condition."
The report stated 97% of soybeans were blooming in the same week, below the 99% reported blooming in the same week last year. The 5-year average for soybean blooming in this week was 97%.
Some 88% of soybeans were reportedly setting pods, below the 91% reported setting pods in the same week last year. The 5-year average for soybeans setting pods in this week was 87%.
Some 3% of soybean crops were reportedly dropping leaves, below the 4% reported dropping leaves in the same week last year.
Some 45% of soybean crops were reported in "good" condition, with another 11% in "excellent" condition and 28% in "fair condition."
